Module details for 2022/23.

30 credits

FHEQ Level 7 (Masters)

Module Outline

This core module will provide students with advanced knowledge about key approaches and issues in international human rights law. The course will begin with an assessment of the development of the body of international legislation around human rights that started to develop after World War II. The course will go on to reflect upon the theoretical critiques (eg liberal, feminist, cultural relativist) which have been addressed to the concept of rights. It will also evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of human rights institutions charged with the adjudication and implementation of human rights.
