Module Outline

This module introduces students to and further develops knowledge of the nature and sources of international law through an examination of various substantive topics, such as the Use of Force, International Humanitarian Law, and Terrorism. The module focuses on rights and responsibilities not only of states but also in relation to individuals and other putative subjects of international law.

Critically reflect upon the purposes and functions of international law in the modern world

Demonstrate a broad understanding of the contexts in which international law operates

Critically reflect upon the relationship between international and domestic law

Demonstrate a critical understanding of the various actors involved in the development and functioning of international law

Demonstrate a knowledge of the practical techniques of international law
