Module Outline
The module covers aspects of the law of copyright, related rights, and unregistered and registered designs. The module aims to introduce students to the principles of intellectual property law and its philosophical and economic justifications, but it will also encourage in-depth analysis of particular issues in the law and policy of intellectual property, such as internet 'piracy'. The focus of the module will be on UK law and policy, however reference will be made to EU and international law where relevant.
Module learning outcomes
Systematically understand and explain the main principles of copyright law, related rights, and designs in the UK.
Apply the knowledge and understanding gained to the solution of problems and develop reasoned arguments on controversial aspects of the law.
Undertake effective independent research on a topic using library resources.
Identify and explain a range of contemporary issues in copyright law
