FHEQ Level 5
Module Outline
This module explores the central themes that have occupied 20th and 21st century feminism in theory and political practice. It establishes a dialogue between philosophical writings and activist politics to examine issues from subjectivity to care, labour and digital technology through a feminist lens. Students will engage with each issue from an intersectional and global perspective to gain a nuanced understanding of the complex ways in which gender, sex, sexuality and power interact. Seminars will provide students the opportunity to link feminist scholarship to a broad range of contemporary debates, including reproductive justice, trans* issues, representation, misogyny and gender-based violence.
