Module Outline

This module discusses corporate finance theories and practices in the context of current market and institutional environment. It critically assesses the impacts of environmental, social and governance factors on corporate performance. It applies valuation models for stocks and investment projects. It discusses corporate financing decisions, capital structure decisions and merger & acquisitions performance in detail. Students will be able to critically assess the corporate decisions and performance in the context of formal and informal institutional environment. Students will also be able implement valuation models on financial assets and obligations.

Module learning outcomes

Systematically understand the environmental, social and governance factors and critically assess their impacts on corporate performance.

Implement models for estimating the value of financial securities, financial obligations and investment projects.

Systematically understand the major approaches to corporate financing and critically assess the market responses to different approaches.

Critically assess the application of finance theories and institutional differences to explain corporate dividend policies, capital structure decisions, and mergers & acquisitions performance.
