Module Outline
This is a two-semester independent research project for the Centre for Doctoral Training in Quantum Information Science and Technologies (QIST), which can be chosen by students instead of the two semester-long projects (Project A in QIST and Project B in QIST). Students will choose projects that have been vetted as appropriate to the CDT from proposals submitted by potential supervisors. It is likely that this could grow into their PhD project.
Module learning outcomes
Synthesise experimental and theoretical QIST research techniques appropriate to the context of a project.
Manage a complex project with attention to detail and an appropriate response to challenges that arise.
Produce technical scientific material approaching a professional standard.
Communicate with clarity the scientific output of a research project for a variety of audiences.
Create the solid foundations for further research in a relevant topic that demonstrates the potential for originality.
