Module Outline

• Functions of several variables. Limits, continuity.
• Differentiation of functions of several variables. Directional derivatives, gradient, total and partial differentials. Taylor formula.
• Extrema, constrained minima and maxima. Lagrange multipliers
• Implicit Function Theorem.
• Double and Triple integrals. Polar, cylindrical and spherical coordinates.
• Line and surface integral. Gauss and Stokes Theorem.

Module learning outcomes

Calculate basic higher-dimensional integrals and derivatives of functions of several real variables;

Understand the concepts and definitions of partial derivative and gradient, provide and explain examples and counterexamples;

Appreciate the concepts and definitions of line and surface integral, double and triple integral.
