People caring about and trying to help others, sometimes known as altruism, kindness or prosocial behaviour. This occurs via and during a wide range of behaviours including activism, advocacy, campaigning, charitable giving, citizenship, consideration, courtesy, donating (e.g., blood, organs), and volunteering. It happens for many reasons, including love, morality, and self-interest. There are many possible impediments to it, including moral myopia (short-sightedness), selfishness, and commitment to various conceptions of "the greater good".
