Research Supervisors | 'have a responsibility to ensure that the highest standards of research integrity, governance and ethical practice are met, that research activities are undertaken in compliance with the Code of Practice for Research by staff and students under their supervision, and to seek to foster a culture of openness and professional integrity in research practice.' |
School Research Ethics Officer (SREO) |
'to provide informed, independent and timely ethics review of UG and PGT projects within a culture of honesty and respect for participants, the environment and the full range of stakeholders of University research. This role will also include provision of guidance and awareness-raising amongst colleagues and students as appropriate..' MORE |
Faculty Research Ethics Committee (F-REC) Member | 'Faculty Research Ethics Committee (F-REC) members carry out independent and informed review of the ethical design of research and related projects. They bring specific expertise to the review process and take a lead role in promoting research integrity and good practice across faculty and the wider institution.' MORE |
Faculty Research Ethics Committee (F-REC) Chair | 'The Faculty Research Ethics Committee (F-REC) Chair ensures the highest standards of ethical conduct in research and related activities involving human participants, animals, the environment and data. The Chair leads the committee, overseeing fair and rigorous ethics review, interpreting and applying ethical principles in accordance with university policy, guidance and external regulation. The Chair is responsible for ensuring timely, independent and informed consideration of the ethical design of research submitted to the F-REC, supports its members and relevant ethics officers, facilitates training, and contributes to the development and monitoring of university-wide ethics policy through their ex-officio membership of the Research Ethics and Integrity sub-Committee (REISC). The Chair sits as an ex-officio member of the Health and Social Care Sponsorship Sub-Committee and the Faculty Research and Innovation Committee. They take a lead role in promoting a culture of research integrity both within and across Faculties.' MORE |
Faculty Research Ethics Committee (F-REC) |
'To ensure that the University’s research adheres to the highest ethical standards, in accordance with the ÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Research Ethics Policy, Code of Practice for Research and the Concordat to Support Research Integrity. The Faculty Research Ethics Committees (F-RECs) function to review, facilitate and encourage consistently high-quality ethical research practices, ultimately acting on behalf of the Research Ethics and Integrity Sub-Committee (REISC) to uphold the utmost rigour and integrity in all aspects of the University’s research and research-related activities.'
